Taking part in the Age 5 years survey

We have surveyed families each year since the children were around 9 months old, and now it is time for the age 5 survey. This is an important time for us to understand how children are developing.

Who would we like to speak to?

We would like to speak with one parent/guardian, usually the one that spends the most time caring for the child currently, for about a 45-minute visit at home. The visit involves some games and puzzles for the 5-year-old(s) to do, such as naming different objects and playing some games on the interviewer’s tablet. It also involves the parent/guardian answering some questions about their child(ren)’s development and family life.

The Age 5 survey includes questions about:

• Who lives with you now
• Your child’s personality, language, and health
• Your childcare arrangements
• Your use of services
• Your employment situation
• Your wellbeing and health
